“Taldau” Center conducts a joint project with KERIS on the development of digital literacy and cybersecurity

A. Baitursynuly National Center for Research and Evaluation in Education “Taldau”, together with UNESCO and Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS), are conducting a joint project to develop practical recommendations for improving the digital literacy of students.

KERIS is a governmental organization under Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Korea that develops, proposes, and advises on current and future government policies and initiatives regarding education in South Korea.

From May 20 to May 24, within the framework of this project, the Korean delegation visited Kazakhstan for field research. To study the development of digital education in Kazakhstan, Korean experts met with various stakeholders in the field of education, including heads and experts of the Department of Education in Astana, as well as secondary school teachers.

In addition, KERIS experts had a meeting with the Vice-minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arai Urazova. During the meeting, the development of digital education was discussed, as well as the exchange of experience with Korea on the development of cybersecurity and cyber ethics in educational organizations. The Vice-minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dwelled on the work of the ministry and the development of IT technologies in improving quality of education. Assel Kambatyrova, Deputy Chairman of the Board of “Taldau” Center, briefed her Korean colleagues on the current situation in the development of digital education in Kazakhstan and current initiatives carried out to implement and improve digitalization in education.

On the last day of the field trip, the project participants visited “Taldau” Center and held a business meeting with its employees. During the meeting, various issues were discussed, including the role of the National Education Database (NEDB) and international large-scale assessments in the development of digital education in the country.

As a result of the project, Korean experts will provide a full report on field research in Kazakhstan and develop practical recommendations for the development of digital literacy of students.
